Caleb Powell
Caleb Powell has been a personal trainer since 2004. He has trained a very diverse range of clients, however he enjoys working with weight-loss clients and special populations.Caleb believes the workout program should be fun and effective. He enjoys running outdoor workout classes and welcomes those "I just can't lose the last ?" client. Caleb is certain there is a way for everyone to achieve their goals. Aly Ackman
Aly joined the Penn Recreation team in February of 2017 after moving to Philadelphia from Canada. She graduated from Penn State University in 2016 with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. Aly trained as an elite athlete for 8 of the 15 years she spent as a competitive swimmer. She competed on the varsity swim team at Penn State and was named Team Captain her senior year. During that time, she accumulated many honors and records, including two-time Big Ten Champion and two-time top 8 finisher at NCAAs. She further qualified and participated on the Canadian National Swim Team four times over two years. She has travelled all over the world to race, including Australia, Spain, Russia and Scotland, achieving 6 international medals. She has a great deal of experience creating various programs for friends and family. Aly enjoys working out in a variety of ways including spinning, swimming, kenpo, and lifting. Aly completed her NASM certification in 2016 and is excited to help her clients realize their goals in fitness and overall health.
Darren Tomasso
Darren has a degree in psychology from Penn, where he served as Class President and competed for the Club Tennis team. Darren’s passion for personal training started his sophomore year of high school when he helped train and motivate his mom to lose over 100 pounds. On average, Darren’s clients have seen a 44% increase in overall bodyweight strength, while dropping three pounds of fat and gaining two pounds of lean muscle over six weeks. Darren believes in a holistic approach to well-being, which emphasizes a healthy lifestyle both inside and outside the gym so you can be the best overall you. Often found in the weight room or group fitness studios singing and dancing like nobody's watching, Darren's energy is unbounded. Since his passion and enthusiasm for fitness and lifting translates to the people around him so easily, he will motivate you to reach your fitness goals like no other. Kate Frese

Kate is a certified personal trainer who grew up in Lancaster, PA. She believes that fitness should be enjoyable while improving every day life. Be it general health and fitness or sport specific strength and conditioning, Kate enjoys making individualized workouts to help her clients reach their goals. She is an advocate for cross-training in different types of strength and conditioning to prevent workouts from being monotonous. Most of her training experience consists of taking sedentary or out of shape individuals and turning them into healthier, regular gym-goers. Some of her favorite clients were terrified of the gym before working with her. Being a long distance swimmer turned powerlifter and strongwoman, she is able to relate to a variety of athletes and understand their needs. When Kate is not training, she is working out, enjoying good food and coffee, watching hockey or photographing the Philadelphia Flyers. Certification: American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer
Keith Roddy
Keith, who is a Philadelphia native, developed a great respect and passion for fitness through the discipline of sports and service in the US military. As a youngster, his tutelage in gymnastics, diving (springboard and platform), competitive swimming and wrestling, honed a personality uniquely suited for elite training as a SAR (Search And Rescue) swimmer in the Navy. It is that military service along with an adventurous childhood that fuel his passion for the great outdoors and the adventures there to be found. Since achieving certification through NASM, it has been his mission to train and inspire others to live the fittest, most adventurous lives they are able. His methods include callisthenic, circuit, interval, strength, strength endurance, TRX Suspension and cardio training to name a few. Keith lives and trains by a simple philosophy of: Feeling fit is the goal, looking fit is the prize, ascending fitness is the journey.   Certifications: National Academy of Sports Medicine
Mike Moore
Mike spent nine years as a Special Forces operator (SWCC) in the Navy. He trained and dedicated himself for two years so he could make it through one of the world's most arduous and selective schools, a school that boosts an incredibly high attrition rate. During his time in the military he was able to travel to a plethora of countries and train different people from many cultures. Certification: NSCA
Nicholas Cowell
Training is awesome, it gives me the opportunity to give back to the community by helping people live active and healthy lifestyles! I have been an athlete my entire life playing several sports, including baseball, football, track, and martial arts, as well as training for and competing in several different races, including half marathons, Spartan Races, 5k's & 10k's, Tough Mudders, and Warrior Dashes. Through my experience, I have been able to learn and utilize different training techniques with clients of all ages and abilities. Originally from Milford, CT, I’ve been a certified personal trainer since 2013 and have had the pleasure of working with clients throughout the northeast, from Philadelphia, PA to Machias, ME. Leonard Asqalani
I'm originally from North Carolina but lived here in Philadelphia for many years. I graduated from Cumberland County College for Business Administration, and most recently graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences with a degree in Surgical Technology. I'm a pure bred athlete , and I enjoy football, boxing, jet skiing, riding ATV's and playing chess. I strive to be an example of my work and my goal here at Penn is to help you reach yours.

Pat  Dolan
Pat Dolan is a personal trainer and strength coach with UPenn, working in both recreation and athletics. For the past 5 years, he has trained UPenn gymnasts, fencers, rowers, golfers, football players, track athletes, and more. Pat seeks to provide superior exercise and health coaching for everyone, customizing programs and movements to match each person's needs. He is also very passionate about the pursuit of good health, and will support each person as they pursue their own goals of fitness. Certifications: CSCS

Erica is ready to help you meet your health and fitness goals. As a former news producer turned personal trainer, she knows what it's like to have a busy schedule. Sam Silberstein
Samantha (Sam) commonly refers to herself as a reformed couch potato. She credits health and fitness as huge factors in restoring focus and motivation into all aspects of her life. Sam is a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Sam prides herself in taking a non-judgmental approach to fitness. She will try anything at least once, having participated in many diversified types of exercise, from Barre to Crossfit.
