Youth Climbing Programs
No experience necessary. Equipment provided.
Registration:
You must register in person no later than the Friday before the course date. Register in person at the Pottruck Membership Office located at 3701 Walnut Street.
Where:
The indoor climbing wall is located in the atrium of the Pottruck Health and Fitness Center at 3701 Walnut Street.
Waivers:
Parents or legal guardian are required to complete a Minor Waiver and Consent form prior to the programs beginning. You can download this form in advance by clicking here.
Parent requirement:
We do require parents or guardians to remain in the facility during program times.
KidsRock Climbing
Marmosets ages 6- 12
Rock climbing is an exciting and challenging sport, perfect for children. Our professional staff will teach your children the fundamentals of climbing, including safety and technique. The focus of this course is to build a child’s climbing confidence by having fun. Children must be 6 years or older to climb.

Youth Indoor Rock Climbing Course
Chimp’s ages 11 to 13
Orangutan’s ages 14 to17
This 3 week sequential class is a perfect introduction to rock climbing for your daughters and sons. Our professional staff have more to offer than amusement park rides up the wall. Through on the wall practice, participants will walk away understanding how to safely use technical climbing equipment such as harnesses, ropes, belay and rappel devices. Teaching the most up to date technical information your children are sure to develop the solid and safe groundwork necessary to truly enjoy this incredible sport. To view specific dates click here.
Penn Youth Rock Climbing Camps
Chimp’s ages 11 to 13
Orangutan’s ages 14 to17
This camp is intended to build a solid foundation of rock climbing skills. This experience is appropriate for students of with any rock climbing background: whether they have never climbed before, climbed a few times, or indoor climbers wanting to transition skills outside. The first 2 days will be spent evaluating and improving basic climbing skills, movement skills, and belaying. Technical classes will be delivered on climbing knots, outdoor anchor construction for top ropes, movement, lead belying, and rappelling. As a small group this camp will ensure individual attention and students can expect to build a solid understanding of rock climbing. To view specific dates click here.
