Lauren began practicing Yoga in 2001 to prevent injuries associated with distance running. Her practice deepened after moving to San Diego in 2003, and she came to view yoga as a vehicle to many of life's lessons. By connecting with our breath and treating ourselves compassionately on our mats, we are better equipped to move gracefully through the uncertainties and drawbacks that we encounter off our mats. Inspired to share the wisdom of yoga with others, Lauren completed her 200-hour Yoga certification at Dhyana Yoga after returning to Philadelphia and has been teaching Yoga since September 2010. She leads a breath-based and alignment-focused flow, encouraging students to view their yoga practice as an opportunity to nourish their bodies, minds, and spirits. In addition to being a student and teacher of Yoga, Lauren enjoys cooking, triathlons, and curling up with a good book and her dog Sawyer.

Have you had your medicine today?
Exercise is medicine. And that’s good news for every segment of our nation, seniors to children. Some call it a no-brainer. Others, a magic bullet. The fact is, groundbreaking research has proved that exercise, at the correct intensity and duration, not only improves the quality of life – it decreases the incidence of disease, chronic health conditions and obesity. At a time when our nation faces an alarming health crisis, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Association launched the Exercise is Medicine™ program.
PennRec supports the Exercise is Medicine™ On Campus Program, so join us as we embark on a nationwide campaign to initiate a dialogue between physicians and every American. Our mission is to make sure that exercise is front and center in every discussion on disease prevention, health, and wellness.
