The CPR for the Lay Responder certification is valid for one year and is issued through the American Red Cross.

For the Professional Rescuer:  Participants will be instructed in an 8 hour course on the proper techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and administering shocks using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Master's Swim Team

The PennRec Master's Swim Team will start, at the earliest, in mid-June and possibly not until July 1, 2014.

Participants of an intermediate, or above, swimming level are welcome to join one of Philadelphia's only master's swimming teams. The PennRec Master's Swim Team is designed to allow adult competitive swimmers to have a place to train with other swimmers of their ability under the guidance of a varsity swim coach, and without interruption from other recreational swimmers. The aim of this group is to provide a challenging training, and learning environments, where swimmers and triathletes encourage each other to swim at higher levels than they would if swimming alone.

The master's team is a summer-only program, and runs from late May to August. This program will start the 3rd week of May (May 20th), with 3 practices per week from 6.30 - 8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

General guidelies for participation are the following:

The full 3-practice-per-week cost for a members/students is $60 per month, while the full practice week for non-members, and non-affiliates, is $80 per month. May will have a special pro-rated cost of $30 (members) and $40 (non-members & non-affiliates). A two-practice per week option may be possible, but only with enough interest and consistent communication with the Aquatics Coordinator. Non-Penn affiliates are allowed to register for this program, but must do so at the non-member rate and must only use the pool area during designated practice times.

A Friday night "pre-seaon" practice schedule is being discussed, with the dates being the following: 4/26, 5/3, and 5/10 from 6.30 - 7.30pm. These practices will primarly be drill based and low level aerobic swimming.

Renewing monthly fees is mandatory and payment can be made in full at the initial sign-up, or on a month-to-month basis. It should be noted that if enough swimmers do not sign up in each month the program will not generate enough revenue to operate.

As it stands, those who cannot commit to 3 practices a week are asked not to attempt to sign up and non-members/non-affiliates are asked to inquire with Dan Schupsky, Aquatics Coordinator, as to the status of their participation.

Please call the Membership Office for questions or to sign up and contact Dan Schupsky, Aquatics Coordinator, for further information on course content and/or programming.
