Aquatics Staff

Daniel Schupsky is both a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and a Pool Operator On Location (POOL), has previously managed the aquatics facility at The College of New Jersey and has been coaching swimming for 12+ years, with 6+ years as a collegiate coach. Major projects completed at the Sheerr Pool include the installation of an ultra-violet (UV) disenfection system, major bulkhead repair/replacement work, extensive tile reconstruction, and energy efficient lighting. He has coordinated expaned pool hours, new aquatics programming, and increased revenue from all programming sales. Athletically he has over-seen the development of an NCAA Division III national champion and is working closely with Penn's top hope for an Olympic Trials Finalist. Formerly a high school science teacher he obtained both a BS and MEd from The College of New Jersey where he was also an All-American swimmer. He is currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies here at Penn and lives in Center City, Philadelphia.


Jen Chaquette is a lifeguard and from the Ocean State of Rhode Island. She's a freshman at Penn studying Political Science and Urban Studies. In her free time she gives tours of Penn's campus and enjoys long distance running.

Francesca de la Torre is a Certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and has been teaching swimming for 10 years. She has taught group and private lessons at Pottruck for all skill levels, as well as Water Aerobics and Parent-Toddler (PTot) classes. As the Program Coordinator at the Christian Association at Penn, she is active in volunteering and has interest in literacy development.

Tatiana McLauchlan is a CPR certified swim instructor. She has taught private lessons at Pottruck for all skill levels. She is also a member of the varsity swim team and an avid runner. Tatiana is a Bio-engineering undergraduate at Penn's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. 

Anastasia Shown is the Assistant Director of the African Studies Center at Penn; in her free time she teaches swimming lessons. She has been in aquatics for 15 years and has worked as a lifeguard, instructor, coach and pool manager. She has taught in the U.S. and abroad and is also comfortable teaching children, those with disabilities, and adult beginners.

Jane Zhang is a Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructor and has been in the pool swimming for the past 12 years and teaching for almost 5 years.  She is currently studying Finance and Marketing/Operations at Wharton.  Growing up in Wisconsin, Jane has developed a love for the outdoors and enjoys roasting marshmallows by the camp fire, biking on nature trails and running by Lake Michigan.
