Personal Training

New to working out? Are you looking for extra motivation? Do you need recommendations for a new workout routine? The PENN Personal Training department has been designed to provide each client with a positive experience while assisting individuals with these areas and more. Our trainers are certified through reputable, national organizations and are experienced in developing personal programs designed to achieve your health and fitness goals. Personal training services are only available to members and are conducted at the Pottruck and Fox Fitness Centers.

All services are provided by certified personal trainers employed by Penn Recreation.  Members and guests are not permitted to provide personal training services, nutritional products, or other goods and services.

Personal Training Services

Our trainers will design programs specifically for each individual. Trainers will provide proper exercise instruction and will motivate you to achieve your fitness goals.  New clients purchasing 10 or more sessions are eligible to receive a free initial comprehensive fitness assessment.  Contact Membership Services for more information – 215-898-6100, pennrec@pobox.upenn.edu.

*Lifting 101 = A 3-week program providing an introduction to the proper technique and form of various Olympic lifts for novice and intermediate lifters. The Squat, Deadlift, and Overhead Press are covered in a small group setting. Space is limited to 5-10 participants per session.

*PT 1-2-3 = Session 1 - Health and Fitness Assessment, Session 2 – Personal Training Session, Session 3 – Personal Training Session – a great way determine your current level of fitness and receive a detailed exercise prescription designed to meet your personal goals. 

*PT PUSH = Pre and Post Program Health and Fitness Assessments, 15 Personal Training Sessions completed 3x/week for 5 weeks.  Push yourself to the next level and get ready for the Summer!  Program must be completed within 6 weeks – no refunds or exceptions will be made.

Personal Trainers on the Floor

Our fitness rooms are mostly staffed by certified personal trainers who are easily identified by their red shirts. If you need to know how to use a piece of equipment, want to ensure you are using proper form, or are just looking for a great new exercise, ask one of our Fitness Team members for assistance.
