> About Recyclemania

RecycleMania is a friendly competition among college and university recycling programs in the United States and Canada. For 10 weeks, campuses compete in different contests to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables per capita, the largest amount of total recyclables, the least amount of trash per capita, or have the highest recycling rate. In the end, RecycleMania helps all participating colleges and universities make achievements in recycling and waste reduction!

Take the Pledge!

We need everyone's help to make RecycleMania a success—and to keep our planet safe and livable. You'll have an opportunity to sign onto this pledge — and the early birds will get free goodies at the same time! Keep an eye on the event calendar on the right to find out where and when you can sign up.

I pledge:

  • To find out what materials I can and cannot recycle in my community.
  • To lead by example in my House or residence and in my neighborhood by recycling.
  • To recycle batteries, cell phones and other electronic waste.
  • To email my elected officials to ask them to increase funding for my community's recycling programs.
  • To tell five friends that recycling is the easiest thing they can do to slow global warming.
  • To stop, think, and recycle while I'm at Penn.

You can also take the pledge online.
