action upon receipt of a letter requesting the leave.  Students who are granted a leave of absence cannot earn credit for courses given by another institution while on leave.
Returning from a Leave of Absence
To return from a leave of absence, students must submit their request in writing to the Assistant Dean of Academic and Student Affairs by the date indicated on their leave of absence letter.  Joint degree students should contact their home School.  Students who have been granted a medical leave of absence for psychological or medical reasons must also provide evidence that they are ready to resume their studies and rejoin the campus community.  Such evidence includes a letter from a physician and consultation with the University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) or Student Health Service (SHS) as appropriate.  Upon return from a leave of absence, students will hold the same academic standing (for example, probation) as prior to the leave.
