Transfers

Students often transfer between institutions and within divisions of the University. SRS recognizes both external and internal transfers.

External transfers are students who come to Penn from another college or university. Students who leave Penn to attend another college or university also are external transfers.

Internal transfers are students who change divisions within Penn, for example, students who change from the Wharton Undergraduate Division to the Engineering and Applied Science Undergraduate Division.

Use one of the following transfer entry actions to open an academic program for a transfer student:

- TR (internal transfer) for Internal Transfers
- AT (transfer admit) for External Transfers

See Opening an APS Entry for this procedure.

Use one of the following transfer exit actions to close an academic program for a student who is transferring out:

- TR (internal transfer) for Internal Transfers
- WT (withdrew to transfer) for External Transfers

See Closing an APS Entry for this procedure.

Transfers out (exit actions) require exit reasons. You must enter an exit reason when a student transfers out of your division.
