Permits and Authorizations Process

If the students must be individually evaluated prior to enrollment in a course section, the process for requiring permissions is twofold: permission requirements must be established on the course and students must obtain permission.

The process for entering and managing permits/authorizations in SRS:

Registrar's Office or the authorized school/department users establish permission requirements on Screen 131, Section Registration Controls, or through use of the Course Term File Worksheets distributed each term.

For the courses that they administer, all schools or departments, using either Screen 1A4, Advance Registration or 104, Registration Drop/Request.

Students request the courses through PENN InTouch or their school/department staff.

After both Advance Registration and Registration Drop/Request, the Registrar's Office removes unused permits and authorizations from the students' records through a batch process.
