Removing Unclaimed Permits and Authorizations

Entering a permit or authorization to a student's record does not guarantee that the student will USE the permission by requesting a seat in the course. You may want to remove the permission from an unrequested or dropped course section.

Permits and authorizations entered on a student's record during Advance Registration are held by the system while waiting for the student's course request. If the student does not request the course, the UNUSED PERMISSION IS REMOVED AUTOMATICALLY by the Registrar's Office at the end of Advance Registration.

During the Registration Drop/Request period, permits must be entered on the students' records BEFORE they request course sections. Permission is removed automatically from the system at the end of the registration period.

Screen 129, Course Section Maintenance, and Screen 131, Section Registration Controls, display the number of the unclaimed permits (not authorizations) for a given course section.

To revoke permission for a course section, you must first drop the course request. There is no facility in SRS to remove the permission without also dropping the course request.

Once the student has requested the course, only the student's major department or division can revoke the permission.
