Conditional Drop/Request

SRS has a facility called "Conditional Drop/Request", which allows a student to pair a course request with a course drop. The system first checks to see if the requested course is available and processes the drop and the request only if it is.

If a course has corequisite activities or sections, you should include them with the initial request. SRS can then ensure that a seat is available in each requested section before processing the drop.

If the student does not have any course requests in the system and you try to access Screen 1B4, Conditional Drop/Request, SRS will display Screen 104, Reg/Drop/Request.

To use Conditional Drop/Request:

-

Establish the context line by entering the SID and TERM on Screen 1B4.

-

Press Enter.

-

Tab to the first blank line under ADD REQUESTS field.

Do you want to scan for available sections of the course?

- If yes: type X, to scan.

- If no: type R, to request.

NOTE: If you are scanning for available sections, you must complete all the necessary fields on this screen before you

press Enter. Do not skip any of the steps below. When you have selected an available section from the Open Course

Sections screen, SRS will not return you to Screen 1B4 unless there is a problem with request.

See Scanning for Available Course Sections for more information.

-

Type the ten-character course ID of the course you are requesting.

- If yes: repeat all but the last two steps for each corequisite section, using the second and third lines below ADD REQUESTS field.

NOTE: You may only scan for available sections for one requested section at a time.

-

Is the course for variable or alternate credit?

- If yes: type the variable credit, for example, 01.50.

- If no: go to the next step.

-

Is the course for a grade type other than normal?

- If yes: type the two-character grade type at the end of the line.

- If no: go to the next step.

-

Tab to the first line under the DROP REQUESTS field and type the ten-character course ID.

NOTE: Make sure to type any co-requisites activities associated with the course you are dropping on the second and third lines, if necessary.

-

Type DR, for drop, retained.

-

Press Enter.

Result: If you have requested the scan of available sections, the system displays the Open Course Sections screen.

See "Scanning for Available Course Sections" for more information.

Otherwise, system checks if requested sections are available. If all the paired drop/requests are successful, system returns you to Screen 104. If not successful, system displays a message and appropriate reason.
