Address Change
The Student Records System (SRS) records the following address and telephone information:
 
Permanent Address The permanent address is required for all students. Please visit PennInTouch to update expired information
Billing Address
Used for the mailing of account statements, if the billing address is blank the local address is used for mailings when classes are in session and the permanent address is used when classes are not in session or when the local address is expired.
Local Address* Normally the address to be used when classes are in session.
Temporary Address The address to be used over summer break or when a student is engaged in domestic study at another institution or location or studying abroad.
Emergency Contact Address Important – provides the contact information in the event of an emergency involving the student.
Parent 1 Address Address used for the grade mailers if authorized by the student.
Parent 2 Address Address used for the grade mailers if authorized by the student.
 

Students may update any of the address and telephone information for each of the address categories listed above except as noted below. Information may be updated using the Addresses link on PennInTouch. Students may also request changes in person at the Registrar’s Office or by emailing our office.

*Students living in Penn Housing may not change the local address (changes may be made if the local address has expired). If the local address is not expired, changes will be entered into the system by the Office of Residential Living.

Name, Social Security Number, and Marital Status Changes
Students may update their offical name, social security number, or marital status in person at the Registrar's Office or by mail
 
In-person: Bring your PennCard or other photo ID
Mail:
a letter with your signature and date and a copy of the official governmental document applicable to the change you are requesting.
Name changes Court affidavit approving name change or two forms of ID with the new name such as state issued Driver’s License or ID card; SSN card, etc.).
SSN Changes: Social Security card
Marital Status Changes: Marriage or Divorce Decree. If you are changing your name after a divorce, the divorce decree should indicate a change of name approval included as part of the decree or as per the Name Change above.
