U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF) promotes
scientific and technical collaboration between the United States and
the countries of the Former Soviet Union (FSU). The CRDF's goals are
to support exceptional peer-reviewed research projects that offer
scientists and engineers alternatives to emigration and help prevent
the dissolution of the scientific and technological infrastructure
of the countries of the FSU; advance the transition of weapons scientists
to civilian work by funding collaborative non-weapons research and
development projects; and help move applied research to the marketplace
and bring economic benefits both to the countries of the FSU and to
the United States.
Bureau of Educational and Cultural
Affairs The State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural
Affairs (ECA) fosters mutual understanding between the United States
and other countries through international educational and training
programs. The bureau does so by promoting personal, professional,
and institutional ties between private citizens and organizations
in the United States and abroad, as well as by presenting U.S. history,
society, art and culture in all of its diversity to overseas audiences.
