Mentor Letter Submission for

Postdoctoral Fellowships for Academic Diversity
at The University of Pennsylvania and
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

Submit confidential letters for applicants for the Postdoctoral Fellowships for Academic Diversity at the University of Pennsylvania and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) indicating your willingness to mentor the postdoc applicant.

Please note that mentors should familiarize themselves with the program guidelines, and agree to mentor the postdoc for the duration of the fellowship.

Mentors are required to provide an annual report describing the postdocs accomplishments.

Penn Fellowship
Please note that this program is administered as a partnership between the Schools and the Provost’s office; sources of funding within the school vary. Faculty may contact the Office of the Vice Provost for Research for further information. In addition faculty members should consult with the postdoc office in their school to determine the funding model for the fellowship program. Faculty should also familiarize themselves with the University’s Policy for Postdoctoral Trainees at the University of Pennsylvania.

CHOP Fellowship
This program is administered as a partnership between the Research Institute and the CHOP-based faculty member. Faculty may contact the CHOP Office of Postdoctoral Affairs for further information. CHOP-based faculty should select CHOP in the dropdown menu under “School”.

Document Requirements:

  • Should specify in first line of body of letter the applicant’s name
  • Should state that the faculty member has communicated with the applicant and agreed to act as a mentor for the duration of the fellowship should the applicant be awarded a postdoctoral fellowship for academic diversity
  • Should address the applicant's planned research
  • Should have e-signature, if possible
  • Should provide letter writer’s contact information
  • Should be addressed to:

    University of Pennsylvania/CHOP
    Review Panel
