Office of the Vice Provost for Research

OVPR and reporting offices provide a wide array of support services, spanning grants administration, health safety, laboratory animal welfare, research compliance, and technology development assistance.

Center for Technology Transfer (CTT)

CTT assists faculty investigators in developing and commercializing Penn discoveries for the benefit of society and provides a return to the University for further investment in research. 

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

IACUC is responsible for assuring that the research and teaching animals at the institution are maintained with the highest level of welfare.

INSTITUTIONAL REVIEW BOARD (IRB)

IRB promotes and protects the welfare of human research participants by reviewing and approving all human subject research conducted on Penn’s campus.

OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND RADIATION SAFETY (EHRS)

EHRS promotes health, safety, and environmental protection in teaching, research, and healthcare programs and facilities by providing services, advice, and compliance assistance. 

OFFICE OF RESEARCH SERVICES (ORS)

The Office of Research Services (ORS) is responsible for supporting University investigators and administrators by managing externally sponsored research projects through the pre-award and post-award processes. ORS administers sponsored projects and maintains electronic records via PennERA.

University Laboratory Animal Resources (ULAR)

ULAR is a campus wide research service organization that provides daily animal husbandry, veterinary care and diagnostic services.
