THE PENN RESEARCH ENTERPRISE
With awards in excess of $870 million, the University of Pennsylvania is home to many of the world’s leading researchers. Penn’s integrated campus encompasses 12 Schools, over 165 multidisciplinary centers and institutes, and a fully incorporated health system and consists of a large community of scholars committed to making a difference in the world. Penn investigators are building unique bridges between traditionally disparate fields of research to achieve groundbreaking discoveries across the life sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, business, and many other fields of study.
Penn receives over 5800 awards on an annual basis. The University is consistently ranked as one of the largest recipients of funding from the National Institutes of Health and federal support in total accounts for 85 percent of sponsored program support. Penn also receives valuable support from a host of other sponsors, including the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the City of Philadelphia, foundations, associations, and industry partners.
The Penn Center for Innovation opened on June 2, 2014 to provide integrated services for entrepreneurship and new models of engagement with corporate partners.
