Research Awards NIH Institutes and Centers are finalizing plans to fund previously well-reviewed but unfunded research proposals. According to NIH there are over 14,000 R01s from FY2008 and FY2009 that are under consideration for 2 years of funding as opposed to the norm of 4 years. NIH will expect investigators to provide revised budgets and deliverables for consideration.
In addition to considering highly rated but unfunded proposals, NIH Institutes and Centers are finalizing plans to provide supplemental funding to awarded grants in their last contracted year. Guidelines may very across NIH Institutes and Centers. Penn investigators are encouraged to contact their NIH program officer(s).
