NIH eSNAP Process/Procedures
Non-competing NIH applications that are subject
to Streamlined Noncompeting Award Procedures can be submitted electronically
via the NIH Commons (https://commons.era.nih.gov/commons/)
using the feature called eSNAP. A significant benefit of submitting
through eSNAP is that the electronic submission is due 45 days prior
to the start of the next budget period, instead of 60 days for the
paper submission.
In order to begin the process, the Principal
Investigator must have an NIH Commons account. Investigators should
contact their business administrator to request an account.
The application is completed on the NIH
Commons website and then routed electronically through the Business
Administrator and the Dean’s office, for School approvals,
then to ORS for submission. A hard copy of the transmittal must
still be completed and routed to ORS prior to ORS approving and
submitting the eSNAP application.
