Salary Caps
The purpose of this page is to provide updated information regarding
the salary limitations on NIH grants and cooperative awards.
New
January
1, 2009 and beyond $196,700
These
limits/caps apply to direct salary which is exclusive of fringe
benefits and facilities and administrative expenses (also referred
to as Indirect Costs). An individual's direct salary or institutional
base salary is the annual compensation that the University of Pennsylvania
pays for an individual's appointment, whether that individual's
time is spent on research, teaching, patient care, or other activities.
The amount of the NIH cap is dependent upon the federal fiscal year
(FY) in which the grant or agreement was awarded to the University
of Pennsylvania by NIH. This information can be obtained from the
