Penn Traditions

From Hey Day and toast-throwing at a football game on Franklin Field, to Clash of the Classes and Spring Fling, Penn’s many traditions add to the richness of the University experience.

Penn traditions bring the campus community together to promote and inspire unity, mark the moving up of students from one class to the next, and cheer on sports teams in friendly but fierce rivalries with fellow Ivy institutions.

Many years after leaving Penn, alumni still fondly remember events, activities, and landmarks on campus—including Homecoming, the Penn Relays, and photographs with friends in front of the “LOVE” statue.
