Green Dorm Certification

Students play an important role in contributing to the University's sustainability initiatives through the decisions they make on a daily basis.  Penn's Green Campus Parnership seeks to recognize these choices by offering the Green Dorm Certification program, an environmental certification available for student living.

Participating students can earn points for their lifestyle choices, which are assigned values based on their impact and level of difficulty.  A minimum of 40 points is required to achieve certification.

All participating students will receive a special "Green Dorm Certified" decal celebrating their achievement, which should be placed outside their room or in another visible location to promote their accomplishment.

Pilot Program

Penn's Green Campus Partnership is launching this program in conjunction with Stouffer College House as part of a first-year pilot program.  We encourage all feedback that might be helpful in improving the program throughout the pilot.  Stouffer's Eco-Reps are also available to talk with you about your application and to answer any questions you might have about the program. Please send any comments, suggestions, or questions to sustainability@upenn.edu, using the subject line "Green Room.”

With your help, we can reach the University’s Climate Action Plan goals.

Steps to Certification

  1. Browse through the Green Dorm Certification Program Overview for more information about each action on the list.
  2. Complete the Green Dorm Certification Online Checklist and submit your score.
  3. If your total score exceeds 40 points, you are officially certified, and Eco-Reps in your College House will give you a sticker to put outside your room.
