Rider Rights/Responsibilities

We try our best to keep Penn Transit safe and convenient for everyone. To this end, we ask that you keep in mind your rights and responsibilities when you get a ride with Penn Transit.

Rider Rights

  • A courteous and competent driver
  • A secure and timely ride
  • A clean, well-functioning, and safe vehicle
  • To be safe and secure within the vehicle before the vehicle starts moving
  • To have current route and schedule information available
  • To be picked up and dropped off at designated locations within service boundaries
  • A simple, timely and responsive process for filing an idea or suggestion by calling the Penn Transit supervisor on duty at 215-898-RIDE, or by leaving a message on 215-898-IDEA or on Business Services' Idea Web

Rider Responsibilities

  • For safety reasons all riders must show their valid PennCard to the driver upon entering the vehicle. Drivers may refuse entry to any person not showing a valid PennCard.
  • Each driver has the right to deny service to any disruptive person. Penn Police will provide assistance when required.
  • Those riders whose PennCards have been lost, stolen, or forgotten will need to call 215-898-RIDE before boarding a vehicle to obtain permission to use the system
  • Baggage brought onto any Penn Transit vehicle must fit on the rider's lap. This includes shopping bags.
  • Valid PennCard holders may be accompanied by up to 2 guests provided they ride with the PennCard holder
