The lineup for the PVN Movie Channel is set approximately
45 days (6 weeks) prior to the beginning of each month.
To provide diverse and rich programming each month,
the PVN staff works in constant cooperation with student
life programs, faculty members, and students.
If you would like to request a movie, or provide feedback
on our service, the following options are available:

Each month, the Penn Video Network office publishes
a schedule for the PVN Movie Channels (ch. 11 and
22). If you would like to get on our email list so
that you will receive the schedule automatically at
the beginning of each month, please send an email
to video[@]isc.upenn.edu requesting that your name
be added.
You must furnish a valid e-mail address and your full
name.

The PVN Movie Channel is presented to satisfy many
different needs, and to suit many different sensibilities.
Our goal is to provide as much cinematic variety,
and to satisfy as many different tastes, as we can
each month. If the balance is perfect, you should
be able to count on finding a good representation
of recent blockbusters, films supporting current academic
courses at Penn, interesting independent cinema, Hollywood
"classics," favorites from the 60s - 80s, movies having
a tie-in to student events here at Penn, international
films ... and much more. Because cinematic taste is
so very subjective, and because we're intending to
please a very diverse set of demands, you'll find
that some months are more to your liking than are
others.
If you want to give us feedback on the movie channels,
drop us a line at video[@]isc.upenn.edu. Please understand,
though, that for every message we receive saying,
"Why are there so many annoying subtitled movies this
month?" we also receive messages saying, "How come
you don't show more foreign films!?"

The films we run are obtained from distribution companies
that provide us with the appropriate legal broadcast
rights for the kind of system we operate. We lease
the films on a monthly basis, and return them immediately
after their playdates have expired. We do not have
a video inventory here on site.
The distribution companies serving the college market
handle a fairly comprehensive list of film studios'
output, but not all movies are available at all times
for broadcast. In fact, a film may be available for
rental in "home video," but will not be available
legally for closed-circuit broadcast.

One of the worst mistakes we can make is to disrupt
a movie before its conclusion. We sincerely apologize
when that happens.
The PVN is not staffed around the clock. Nearly all
of our movie channel broadcast operations are automated;
so, every once in awhile, a VCR or computer glitch
will cause a problem. Please -- let us know
when such problems happen. If we are not made aware
of such a problem, it's quite possible that the problem
will repeat itself.
Just drop us a line at video[@]isc.upenn.edu or give
us a call 8-4336 (V-IDEO) and we'll look into the
problem as soon as we can.
