Messages on the Video Bulletin Board are broadcast in continuous rotation via the Penn Video Network on Channel 2. Your promotional message can run all day, seven days a week for as long as you schedule them, in a graphically exciting environment.

PVN staff members are available to assist you (email us at video at isc.upenn.edu) with developing an effective message to meet the specific needs of your department or program.

You can submit pre-created graphics or graphical text for your Video Bulletin Board message. When emailing a graphic image, please be specific about which Video Bulletin Board message is yours.

You may also bring a hardcopy graphic to be scanned by our Video Bulletin Board team, to our office at Sansom Place West Suite 111, 3650 Chestnut Street.

Here is a basic representation of what we need:

A full background image should be 800x600 pixels, with a resolution of 72 or greater, in black and white or full-color (RGB is best for TV reception). If your background image is larger than these specifications, your background image will bleed off of the edges. This is okay, as long as you are aware that any image or part of the image past 800 pixels wide or 600 pixels high will be lost.

If you submit a background that is built to the standard 4:3 dimensions but is larger than 800x600 (for example, 1024x768), the entire image will be shrunk to fit an 800x600 screen. If your background image is smaller than 800x600 (for example, 640x480), we will need to enlarge the image to 800x600. Please be aware that resizing of the background/fullscreen image can result in a loss of quality of elements.

Any 'clip' images or clip-art should be smaller than 800x600 pixels, with a resolution of 72 or greater.

See below for notes on pre-placed text on your background. Pre-placed text on your background cannot be changed or resized.

Your message text should be legible on a TV screen. The minimum readable text size for Video Bulletin Board messages is 30 pt in size. Text that is smaller than 30 pt will be very difficult to read on a TV screen, especially at a distance. Of course, larger text sizes can and should be used for important information, such as your event title, location, date and time.

The following image formats can be submitted in black and white or full-color. Black and white images will be left black and white unless you specify colorization (please allow extra time for colorization).
