Penn's Logo Identity

The University's identity program consists of three primary graphic elements -- the Penn mark, the University shield, and the University type element. Together these elements serve as the official logo for the University. Under no circumstances should this logo be altered or broken into its constituent parts.

Please always use the official renditions of the Penn logo and replace any older iterations of the University logo where they exist. The consistent application and precise production of these insignia reinforces public awareness of the University and its academic and research missions. We encourage the use of the Penn mark and/or the University shield on all official communications materials.

Use of the University insignia is regulated by the Office of the Secretary with assistance from the Office of University Communications.

Do not distort or manipulate the logo in any manner. A style guide demonstrating correct usages as well as logo specifications is available for download at http://www.business-services.upenn.edu/publicationservices/pdf/logostyleguide.pdf

The logo elements are available on the Penn Web in both print-quality EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) and Web-ready GIF versions. To ensure that the EPS versions are used only by members of the University or authorized agencies working on behalf of the University, it is necessary to use a PennKey ID and password to access the logos.

If you do not have a PennKey and password, but have a legitimate need to access the logos, please contact one of the following Publication Services staff members via email:
