Saul Steinberg: About America 1948-1995

The Collection of Jeffrey and Sivia Loria

October 20, 1995 - January 21, 1996

Ever since he landed in America in 1940, Romanian-born artist Saul Steinberg has recorded the life and times of the USA. The fifty works on paper on display span almost half a century. The images, both playful and profound, include drawings and paintings that have appeared on the cover of the New Yorker magazine. The famous, much imitated "View of the World from 9th Avenue," together with preliminary studies, is on display in several versions. A full color catalogue will be available from the Gallery.
