April 19: Campus-wide research retreat on decision-making in serious illness
The retreat will held from 8:30-4:00 on April 19th in Houston Hall. It is designed to develop Penn’s research strategy related to improving decision-making in advanced, serious illness. Registration is free, but is available on a first-come first-serve basis.

This scholarship is awarded for study at any university in the United Kingdom. G.J. will study at Oxford for the MPhil in Evidence-Based Social Intervention.

Arthur L. Caplan, PhD receives Patricia Price Brown Prize
Arthur L. Caplan, PhD, LDI Senior Fellow, Director of the Center for Bioethics, and Emanuel and Robert Hart Chair of Bioethics, was selected to receive the Patricia Price Brown Prize in Biomedical Ethics. This $10,000 prize administered by the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is given every two years to an individual who demonstrates high standards in the medical or professional ethics fields.
Mary D. Naylor, PhD, RN, FAAN, receives Policy Luminary Award
Mary D. Naylor, PhD, RN, FAAN, LDI Senior Fellow, Marian S. Ware Professor in Gerontology and director of the NewCourtland Center for Transitions and Health was chosen by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) as the 2010 winner of the Policy Luminary Award. The award was established in 2009 to recognize outstanding nurse leaders and their contribution to public policy.
