Health Care Management Executive Education Programs

Programs

Wharton/LDI offers customized and open enrollment programs targeted for health care executives. Our customized programs offer full or partially covered tuition by a funding sponsor for a particular audience. Open enrollment programs are tuition based. Program tuition includes all teaching, materials, supplies, books and most meals. All Participants in customized and open enrollment programs are responsible for their travel, lodging and incidental expenses.

Some programs require a competitive application, while others are by invitation. Please see each program listing for more information.

Programs range from three days to three weeks and include target audiences such as Chief Nursing Officers, Chief Executive Officers of Health Systems, Pharmacy Leaders, Directors of Nursing, Academic Surgical Chiefs and Chairs, Physicians and Managed Care Medical Directors. We also conduct internal programs for individual companies for their senior or middle level management teams.

Costs
Tuition costs vary by program. Some sponsored programs waive the tuition for participants, while open other enrollment programs are tuition based. Please see the detailed information by program under the link for our customized or open enrollment programs.

Certificate of Professional Development
Wharton/LDI's Certificate of Professional Development is formal recognition of each participant's commitment to lifelong learning. The certificate is awarded at the successful completion of each program to acknowledge the attendee's hard work and commitment.

Succeeding as an Executive - Module II On-line CME education for Managed Care Medical Directors - New Program Available January 2004!

Target Audience:	Medical Directors from managed care organizations in the United States.
Program Description:	An on-line CME program with a management education focus for managed care medical directors.
Continuing Education:	This activity has been approved for AMA PRA credit. CME credit is offered through the Office of Continuing Medical Education at the School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

GlaxoSmithKline Executive Management Program for Pharmacy Leaders
Academic Director:	Kathy Pearson, PhD
Target Audience:	Pharmacist leaders from Hospitals, Managed Care, Retail and Community Pharmacy in the United States. Applicants must be licensed pharmacists.
Program Description:	A 8 day intensive management education program for pharmacists in leadership positions in their respective health care organizations. Participants engage in sessions on stakeholder analysis, finance, leadership, accounting, decision analysis, communications and scenario planning for the future. The program capstone is the 2-day Executive Forum where participants are joined in the program by their work supervisors to allow the ideas and learning gained at Wharton to be implemented back home.
Continuing Education:	CE credit is offered through the American Pharmacists Association.

Johnson & Johnson - Wharton CEO Program for Health Care Leadership
Academic Director:	Gregory P. Shea, PhD
Target Audience:	Chief Executive Officers from health care systems in the United States and Canada.
Program Description:	A 4 day intensive management education program for CEOs in North America health care system organizations. Participants engage in sessions on board practices, leadership, business simulations, decision analysis, scenario planning and information technology. In addition, the ability to network and share issues with colleagues is invaluable.
Continuing Education:	CE credit is offered through the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Johnson & Johnson - Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives

Target Audience:	Chief Nursing Officers from hospitals and health care systems in the United States, Canada and abroad.
Program Description:	A 3-week intensive management education program for CNOs in health care organizations. Participants engage in sessions on finance, accounting, value driven decision-making, economic tools for development, emotional intelligence, business simulations, negotiations, decision analysis, scenario planning and information technology. In addition, the ability to network and develop a close group of colleagues from across the globe is invaluable.

The Wharton Executive Management Program for Academic Surgery Leaders

Target Audience:	Surgical Chairs and Chiefs in Academic Medical Centers within the United States.
Program Description:	A 3-day intensive management education program for academic surgical chairs and chiefs.

Wharton Nursing Leaders

Target Audience:	Directors of Nursing from hospitals and health care systems in the United States and Canada.
Program Description:	A 5-day intensive management education program for Nursing Directors in health care organizations. Participants engage in sessions on project management, leading organizational change, accounting, systems thinking and decision traps.
Continuing Education:	CNE credit is offered through the School of Nursing, University of Pennsylvania.

Cost:	Tuition is $2,500, which covers the cost of teaching, class materials and most breakfasts and lunches. Participants are also responsible for their travel, lodging, some meals and incidentals.
