LDI/Wharton SUMR Scholars Program

2010 SUMR APPLICATION DEADLINE - FEBRUARY 1, 2010

Thank you for your interest in the SUMR Program at the University of Pennsylvania. This program is open to rising undergraduate sophomores, juniors or seniors interested in exploring the field of health services research.

To apply to the SUMR Program, please follow this link to our Online Application. In addition to the online application form, we also require the following supplemental materials

A resume
An unofficial transcript
2 letters of recommendation
A photo of yourself.

Instructions for submitting the supplemental documents are embedded in the online application as well as listed below.

Please Note: An application will not be considered complete until all required components are received.

Application Timeline:
Application Deadline: February 1, 2010
Applicant Interviews: March 1-March 12
Admission Notifications: March 15-March 26

Application Review Process:
Only complete applications will be reviewed. The top 20% of the applicant pool will be selected for interviews. Applicants not chosen for interviews will be notified. Applicants chosen for interviews will be contacted to schedule a phone or in person interview. A final admission notice will be sent to interviewed applicants within two weeks of the interview.

Additional Materials Required:
For your application to be considered complete, the following must also be emailed to Shanta Layton by February 1, 2010:

1. Two letters of recommendation

The letters should address seomthing imoprtant about the applicant, including a description of academic and personal characteristics, especially related research aptitude.
The letter should be sent directly from the recommender to Ms. Layton via email as a .pdf attachement.

2. A current resume

3. A transcript of your undergraduate coursework - does not need to be an 'official copy'

4. A photo of yourself (.jpg, .gif or .tif) - In the subject field, please type "photo_your last name, your first name"
