Scanning for Available Course Sections

In the process of registering a student on SRS, you may want to see what sections of a course are available. For example, if a student's request cannot be satisfied, the system returns a message such as SECTION CLOSED. At that point, he or she may want to request a different section.

SRS allows you to scan for available course sections.

When you scan for available course sections, the system will display all the sections available in the term, regardless of the session. If you would like to restrict scanning to the first or second session of a term, you must enter the session code in the context line of Screen 104, Reg/Drop/Request.

To scan for available sections:

-

Establish the context line by entering the SID and TERM on Screen 104.

-

Press Enter.

-

Would you like to scan for sections offered only in a particular session?

- If yes: type the appropriate session code (1 or 2) in the SESSION field in the context.

- If no: go to the next step.

-

Press Enter.

-

Does the course you want to scan appear on the screen?

- If yes: tab to the blank line under * at the left of the course you want to scan and type X, for scan.

- If no: tab to the first blank line under * and type X, for scan, and the ten-character course ID of the course you want to scan.

-

Press Enter.

-

Do you want to request one of the sections listed?

- If yes: go back to the course scan.

- If no: press Enter.

-

Tab to the FUNCTION field at the bottom of the screen and type R, for request, or T, for requesting a section in time conflict with another section.

-

Type the desired three-digit section number.

-

Press Enter.
