Information Regarding the Stimulus Package

The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009:

The President’s economic stimulus plan, ARRA, was signed into law on February 17, 2009 with significant funds targeted towards academic research:

• $21.5 billion in total federal R&D funding budgeted
• $18.0 billion for the conduct of R&D
• $3.5 billion for R&D facilities and capital equipment
  
• Additional funding targeted for non-R&D science and technology-related programs, including:
• Higher education construction
• Educating teachers
• Workforce development for healthcare and Life Sciences professionals
• Technology upgrades

Federal agencies are currently developing, finalizing, and implementing plans for distribution of ARRA funds. The links below provide information that might be of interest to Penn faculty and staff:
